When it comes to the WordPress platform, there are two ways you can secure your plugins, disable them or enable them. There are of course many plugins out there and quite a large percentage of them will be available on the Internet for download. These free WordPress themes and plug-ins can be found by doing a simple search and it is quite likely that they will be able to direct you to where you can get their codes so that you can enable or disable their use in your website. Many of the free plugins have been created and embedded into WordPress. Others however have paid the price for the coding so that they too can have access to these wonderful little WordPress scripts that will add a great deal of functionality and beauty to your website.
One way that a person can hide their WordPress Plugins is by installing them into a special directory. This method is only possible with WordPress versions that came with source code. Thankfully all recent WordPress versions come standard with the code so that you don't need to go looking for codes or even type them into your web browser in order to hide your WordPress plug-in. If you're lucky and your WordPress install comes with the Hide WordPress Plugin then this option is available to you. Unfortunately many people do not have this luxury and have to look for codes online in various locations.
If you're trying to hide a plugin, you can do so by loading the plugin into your "activate" area of the administration panel. This will prevent the plugin from loading until you activate it again. To do this, you should open your administration panel and then scroll down to where it says "Appearance". Select the option for "Hide Your WordPress Plugins", this will cause the plugin to disappear from view and won't be viewable by anyone else. You will however be able to see what's going on with your website when you view it in Internet Explorer or Firefox as the code will still be viewable, just not within your browser.
There are some more serious security issues involving WordPress plugins, especially if you use Themes to decorate your website. The problem is that many WordPress themes include "standard" JavaScript code that's used to display content from your plugin. If you've ever installed a WordPress theme on a site and then activated a JavaScript plugin within it, you'll know exactly what I mean. Most of the plugins out there use the same JavaScript functionality but instead of using the normal function to display your content, the JavaScript will instead load the plugin's JavaScript code instead. What this does is allow an intruder to potentially read your important information and alter it in some way.
Fortunately, there are simple ways to solve these security issues. One of the simplest ways to avoid a security issue is to ensure that you use passwords that you've designed yourself, or that you use passwords which are difficult to guess. Another option is to use plugins such as " WP Passwords Generator " WP Thyme Recovery " which both recovers forgotten or password-free passwords. Of course, it's also important not to choose passwords that are too easy to guess; that makes your site vulnerable to hackers who can create cookies that are later used to track your web browsing history. Use strong passwords that cannot be guessed, and make sure that you change them regularly.
It's also very important to make sure that you only download plugins from trusted sources. Some unscrupulous people have created fake WordPress websites which are designed to harvest your bank account information, and it's usually quite easy for these people to obtain your WordPress user script, as well. Make sure you only use reputable websites that provide the highest quality of WordPress plugins, and from trusted developers. By taking these few simple steps, you can avoid many of the most common security issues related to WordPress plugins.
